Chief Operating Officer
Monty Program Ab was founded by Michael "Monty" Widenius, the founder and creator of MySQL. Monty Program is a center of engineering excellence for MariaDB, the Maria storage engine, MySQL, and other associated technologies.
Monty Program currently has about 20 employees, and we have several more people in the pipeline and ready to start. We partner with a few multinational companies and sell 3rd line (bug fix) support, NRE consulting and develop MariaDB, a branch of MySQL. We have a better knowledge of the core MySQL code than any other company! We are well funded and all of our plans and strategies take a long-term view. As a company we follow the Hacking Business Model, for instance the personnel is working from their homes, collaborating over the internet. CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Your task will be to lead the daily work of the company and manage total operations according to the strategy set by the Board of Directors. Your personal contribution is expected in all areas of the business and especially in the areas of project management of software development projects and support, sales, marketing and HR processes. Your responsibility will be to lead the personnel, grow the company’s revenue by developing and acquiring customers, partners and personnel.
We are expecting an academic degree and additional experience from managing multifunctional teams of experts in addition to sales and marketing experience. You should be familiar with the IT field, especially databases, Internet and Web 2.0, open source and Linux. Even if not strictly a part of your role, it is an advantage to have past hands on experience from software development with typical open source tools and languages. If you have a public track record of participation in open source projects, whether as a developer or in non-technical roles, please include this in your application.
We expect you to be enthusiastic and able to inspire others, possess a pioneering entrepreneurial spirit, and be a fast and eager learner and a team player. Note: As an exception to the Hacking Business Model, you are expected to work and live in the Helsinki region in Finland.
