The recommended way to participate in MariaDB development is to use bzr to branch the source repository from Launchpad. However, we also make available source tarball snapshots here. Using a source tarball may be more convenient for some people, as it avoids the need to install recent versions of some development tools like bzr, autotools, and bison. The Compiling page has instructions on how to build MariaDB.
